Getting the best from IRAS

2. Preparing Applications

In order to prepare your application for research approvals / permissions, you will need the following things:

  • A username and login – Please see Creating an Account if you do not have an IRAS account.
  • Detailed information about your project.
  • Contact details of anyone you need to share the forms with or anyone named on the forms (e.g. collaborators, sponsors representative etc.)

This section tells you the title of your project and the type of project that you are doing.

Importantly, it also tells you whether you’re in the Full Set of Project Data or a form (Project form or Site-specific form).

box 2 - Some application forms are created by default, some you need to select specifically and others IRAS will lead you through a set of questions to tell you what you require.

Note: When transferring the full project dataset or forms to collaborators, make sure you know the email address registered to their IRAS account. This is not always the same address that you use to contact them so it’s always best to check this and to do so well in advance.
